Changes in Google Search Console Reporting After 100 Results Are Dropped

As earlier reports indicated, Google is removing the feature that allowed displaying 100 search results per page in Google Search. Now, we are seeing that many people are noticing significant changes in their Google Search Console (GSC) performance report data.

We believe Brody Clark was the first to notice this change, and he posted about it on X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn on Sunday. He observed that there was a “significant drop in desktop impressions, resulting in a sharp rise in average position,” as he wrote.
“In any case, if you’ve checked GSC recently and noticed a significant drop in total impressions over the past few days, you are not alone – we’ll have more details soon, so stay tuned,” he further added.

Here is a sample chart, but many people are observing this type of pattern:

The theory is that scraper tools, which often relied on the 100-results-per-page parameter feature, are now failing due to this change, thereby having a serious impact on Search Console data. Most third-party tracking tools are no longer working properly.

Then Brody posted on his blog questioning whether this decoupling was the right move based on this information. It is important to read his blog for an in-depth analysis.

To illustrate this, here is a chart shared by Brody:

For clarity, I’ve also contacted Google’s PR team, John Mueller, and Daniel Waisberg (here), so once I receive a response, I’ll let you know.
